The Buffalo Bills have released reserve punter Brian Stahovich, opening the door for incumbent Shawn Powell to retain his job. The move was announced before the start of practice at training camp in suburban Rochester on Tuesday. Stahovich was signed by Buffalo in April to compete with Powell. He was cut two days after the Bills' preseason-opening 44-20 win at Indianapolis. Stahovich averaged 41.3 yards on three punts, landing two of them inside the 20. Stahovich played at San Diego State, and was initially signed with Indianapolis last year. He was cut before the start of the season. Powell replaced long-time veteran Brian Moorman in taking over the punting duties in Buffalo a month into last season.

BuffalOkie Mondays: Goodwin Impresses in Return Game

During the second quarter of the Bills’ preseason opener against the Colts, I received a text from a good friend and fellow Oklahoma-grown Bills fan, Marcus.  The message simply said: Goodwin is no joke.  He could end up being a great pick even if he never plays a down on offense. Marcus is right. There are certain things that get overblown in preseason games.  You can’t judge...

Bills rookie Kip Edwards taped to post & ice water both

It’s that time of year where NFL rookies have to be very aware of their surroundings. Teams have been practicing for weeks, the games are starting and it’s time to have a little fun which means it’s time for rookie hazing. Buffalo Bills rookie cornerback Kip Edwards got it pretty good on Friday. The team taped him to a goal post and then gave him an ice water bath. (H/T...

Bills rookie CB Kip Edwards was taped to a goal post and had ice water poured over his head by Bills veterans

Last week, Darnell Dockett gave Arizona Cardinals rookies bad haircuts as part of the annual rookie hazing activities at Cardinals camp. And today, we get to see how a certain rookie is being hazed at Buffalo Bills camp. That rookie is cornerback Kip Edwards. And after Friday’s practice, Edwards had to endure being taped to a goal post and having ice water poured over his head...

Bills 'excited about' Manuel's 2-minute drill

BY NICK ST. DENISE.J. Manuel was a little off target early in his NFL preseason debut. For the Buffalo Bills rookie signal-caller, it was all about relaxation."Obviously it was my first time out there," Manuel said Sunday after the team's 44-20 exhibition victory over the Indianapolis Colts. "I wanted to do great, but I thought as a team we played well. The main...

Buffalo Bills Quarterback E.J. Manuel Among Top Performers of the Weekend

Sure, it’s only the preseason, but there is still room to be excited about some of the things we saw during the first full week exhibition games. Aside from football being back in full swing (which in my opinion should be cause for a national celebration), there were some individual performances that caught our eye and perhaps gave us a tiny glimpse of what is to come during the...

Buffalo Bills: Training Camp Report: (Aug 6-13)

1. Kolb doesn't play in preseason game: Usually when a veteran doesn't play in a preseason game it's not a big deal.In Kevin Kolb's case, it is a pretty big deal. Kolb is in the middle of a quarterback battle with 1st round draft pick EJ Manuel, one in which some would say Kolb is losing.Every time Manuel is on the field and Kolb is on the sideline, Kolb's chances...

Bills cruise to victory in preseason opener at Indy

EJ Manuel’s pregame edginess was unmistakable to his teammates. The Buffalo Bills’ rookie quarterback had delivered snappish pep talks leading up to Sunday’s preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts. Bills center Eric Wood relayed what he heard from Manuel: “Come on! Let’s do this! We gotta get this thing going!’ … Kind of pressing but that’s good. You want...

Goodwin vows to return kickoffs 'every time'

BY DAN BEGNOCHEWhile Marquise Goodwin has been impressive throughout offseason workouts and in camp, the rookie is still on the bubble regarding a starting role as a receiver. At the moment, his main shot to contribute will likely be on special teams, for which he proved a valuable commodity Sunday. The former Longhorn tallied 180 yards on two returns, one of which was a 107-yard...

My Camp stories: Kyle Williams

When you go through 13 years of losing, it becomes pretty hard to find redeeming qualities with the team you cheer for. You can talk about the booze, friends, love for football and camaraderie for reasons to go to games all you want, but winning is what really matters and keeps you going to games with a smile on your face that wasn't put there by a chemical solution (Beer)....

My 2013 Bills Preview: Running Backs

When you look at the Bills franchise history, with the exception of the AFL Days and the '90s, it's a sad state of affairs. Inconsistencies galore when it comes to finding the right mix of players, coaches, and GMs, but plenty of consistency when it comes to finding punch lines. However, if there's one thing the Bills have always been able to find, whether it is with...
