Shawne Merriman's surgically repaired Achilles tendon showed no signs of trouble given how easily the defensive end burst past tackle Chris Hairston shortly after the Buffalo Bills opened training camp.
Receiver Stevie Johnson's surgically repaired groin didn't seem to bother him after making an acrobatic catch a little later on Thursday. And defensive tackle Kyle Williams was so happy to be back after having foot surgery nine months ago, it reminded him of how much he missed the game.
Limping no longer, the Bills, as a whole, blasted off on the right foot in opening camp in suburban Rochester with a near fully healthy roster. That's quite a turnaround for a team that ended last year with 17 players - nine of them regulars - on injured reserve.

In a recent radio interview, Buffalo Bills GM Buddy Nix dubbed this brief period between mini-camp and training camp “Talking Season.” It’s an apt name given what we’ve all been doing for the last month. All we’re allowed to do is talk at this time of year with nothing more than conjecture and hope available to [...]
The Buffalo Bills have shuffled defensive ends before the start of training camp by signing undrafted rookie Sean Ferguson and releasing Lionel Dotson.
Ferguson took part in the team's rookie minicamp on a tryout basis in May. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 248 pounds, he had 27 starts in 49 games at Mississippi State.
Dotson spent his first three NFL seasons with Miami before being...

As I continue going through the NFL, it was brought to my attention that I had skipped over the Buffalo Bills. As I said my ABCs I realized I had managed to jump right over the Buffalo Bills. I wanted to apologize for this mistake, it seems that they had been pushed to the back of my mind, just...
Former San Diego Charger Shawne Merriman has a new take on the signature dance that he used to be proud of.
The time for talking is over as far as Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson is concerned.
With training camp set to open in suburban Rochester on Thursday, Jackson says it's time the Bills start showing they're capable of playing to the high expectations that followed a productive offseason.
Until that happens, Jackson said, the hype is meaningless.
For a team that...
Today is the start of Buffalo Bills training camp at St. John Fisher College. For many fans, today is the start of the NFL season, seeing who will make the team, who will start, who gets cut, and who gets injured.
This season, no doubt, has fans anticipating a resurgence of the Bills and hopefully a trip to the playoffs at the end of the season.
It all started with...
According to Dan Goldman of MPNnow.com, quarterback Vince Young didn’t look good in his first training camp practice as a member of the Buffalo Bills.
“The new quarterback’s first reps in 7 on 7 went about as badly as possible. His first pass was tipped and intercepted by rookie Ron Brooks. He then threw an incomplete pass and was then picked off by Tank Carder....
Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson said he's about "90 percent" health wise, but said he doesn't feel any issues with his surgically-repair groin and is full goal for training camp. "I never really say a hundred (percent) because nobody is perfect here. But I feel good about it," Johnson said. Johnson has a new contract and is expecting big strides...
Wide receiver Stevie Johnson told the Buffalo Bills official website that he’s a full go for training camp after undergoing groin surgery during the offseason.
“I am still about the same (as OTAs),” said Johnson. ”About 90-plus (percent). I never really say a hundred because nobody is perfect here. But I feel good about it. I do not feel anything in my groin...
The Pro Football Hall of Fame's new research and preservation center will officially open Aug 3, a day before this year's class is inducted.
The 10,000-square-foot center will preserve more than 20 million documents and three million photographic images. The center will be named after Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson, who provided a $2.5 million donation to have the facility...
In this day and age of results-oriented everything, professionals in the vast majority of fields have short shelf lives when there’s a lack of clear and identifiable production.
Your lasting power greatly diminishes, becoming weaker still, when you take a position of decided concernment well into your senior citizenship.
