Desperate for a living, breathing, human quarterback, the Bucs have agreed to a two-year deal with Byron Leftwich, formerly of the Jaguars, Falcons and Steelers. Leftwich will "compete" for the starting gig with Luke McCown, Brian Griese and Josh Johnson, but certainly seems like an odds-on favorite to win the job. I say that not because Leftwich is particularly talented but because the other options are just so bad. While Leftwich played well in five games for the Steelers in place of Ben Roethlisberger last season, he only threw for 303 yards, so it isn't exactly like he was rocketing the ball all around the field. He handed the ball off a lot with the Stillers, which is also something he'll do a lot of in Tampa Bay with their depth at running back. Still, he will have a decent offense around him and it might be enough to make him look like a decent quarterback. Hey, he's better than the other choices Tampa has at this stage in the offseason.
