Quick, name the starting QB for the New York Jets. If you said Kellen Clemens or Chad Pennington, congratulations, you may be right; however, if today's rumors are true, Brett Favre may suit up next year for the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets. With Favre under the center, the Jets would be a better team than they would be with either Clemens or Pennington, the former of whom has never proved himself in the NFL, and the latter of whom has a shoulder that's about as reliable as a wet stick of butter. Pennington has a sharp mind for the game, but he's not a playmaker like Favre. The Patriots are the Patriots. The Bills are getting better, especially with Leodis McKelvin strengthening special teams and the defensive backfield. The Dolphins? Still bad. But they'll win more than one game. So my question to the Yard is this: If Favre plays for the Green Machine next year, can the Jets compete for a wild-card playoff spot in the AFC? I say no. I think the wild cards in the AFC will go to the Colts and Steelers. Yep, the Colts. The Jags are winning the division... and also the Super Bowl. But that's another post for another time. - Dewey

  • what will fireman ed think of this? he won't be the most popular person at home games anymore.
  • I think its a possibility. I expect the Jets to be around .500, which probably won't make the playoffs in the AFC. Jags over Colts this year? Don't know about that one D-Man, Colts are banged up but almost all of them will be suiting up for the opener.
  • God Farve throwing to Coles is going to be sickness.
  • yeah, Favre as a Jet is a scary concern of mine...still believe he can win 2-3 games extra on his own execution, along with Jet-possessed solid weapons...if happened, the Division in the balance, as we all truly know, Mangini knows NE well, too...like JAX for AFC Championship v. NE/SD/INDY/Darkhorse-well?, that's the Jets "officially" as Darkhorse, right, or DEN?...Jax has really opened up the O...I know everyone's pumped...yup, B"Favra" can ball it still...indirect good thread related to teams in division...BUF improved san injuries...#1 look for, psyched to see start a new player season is, ILB/OLBcapable J.Mayo, from the gut and locals...and, by far the most curious team is these, BF-less, as of now, Jets
  • Coles is one of the best in the league, as well as one of the fastest. With Favre, people would actually know.
    Cotchery is no pushover either.
  • Question: If Favre does come 2 the Jets, will it be the record for most offseason acquisitions?
  • It would certainly make a run at the Redskins teams a few years earlier.
  • It could happen, but I think it would be too early.
There would be a lot of adjustment in a very short amount of time.

However, he''s a great player and has the ability to make things happen..the Jets could certainly do well with him.

    :sighs:
    :)
  • I want Farve to play again - he makes football better. It's selfish, I know, b/c there's a very good chance he will wind up like Jerry Rice, Emmit Smith, etc... finishing his career in foreign colors as an afterthought instead of a legend. That said, a guy like Favre needs to go to the right team and the Jets could be that team.
  • Jerry Rice is still a legend, so is Emmit Smith. Reggie White is another.
  • i think with farve as qb the jets could make the playoffs for the simple fact that they upgraded their offensive line this year and have to capable RB's in Thomas Jones and Leon Washington and two very good WR's in Crocthery and Coles this team makes the most sense to me of all the rumors due to the jets lack of a qb and the packers trading farve out of the NFC.
