The San Fransisco 49ers are faced with a tall task this week. If the 49ers are going to win their second game of the 2012 season the defense is going to have to stop Matthew Stafford, or at least slow him down. The 49ers defense is going to have to play with the same intensity their hear coach Jim Harbaugh has. The team needs to find a way to take it onto the field with them. Stafford can eat your lunch once he gets going. In week one Stafford put up 355 yards passing. The Detroit Lions had 429 yards of total offense. Not only does the 49ers defense have to stop Staffords passing attack they are faced with trying to stop the run too.
On the offensive side of the ball 49ers quarterback Alex Smith is going to have to elevate his game to a higher level, the Lions defense likes to bring the pressure to the quarterback. If Smith is going to be successful he is going to have to make quick reads and get the ball off before the Detroit defense gets to him. In week one Smith had 211 yards pa...

Stafford Still Struggling GIF
Matthew Stafford did not look good last week at home against the Rams as he threw 3 INTs, but easily could of thrown more. He sailed this pass 15 yards over the head of the nearest Lions player. Gracias to the @sbnation for the GIF.

Muy Frio: Matt Stafford
The ladies love me more than my fantasy owners Juan…
So far Matthew Stafford has had a rough 2012 start by throwing twice as many interceptions as he has touchdowns. Being that you drafted him in the 1st or 2nd round you expect more than 12 points a game. I still think he bounces back but for now he’s not making any new friends.

Detroit Lions stumble in San Francisco
It was Jim Harbaugh who got the better end of the handshake once again.
An inspired defensive effort combined with undisciplined play by Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions added up to a 27-19 win in favor of San Francisco.
The Lions made a late comeback to make the score interesting, but this game was controlled by the 49ers from start to finish. San Francisco jumped out to...
Sunday Night Football: Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers Preview and Prediction
A week after taking down the Packers, the San Francisco 49ers welcome the Detroit Lions to the Bay Area.
The Lions also won their opener, over St. Louis, but it was a struggle for Matt Stafford and the Lions. Stafford threw three interceptions last week compared to zero by Alex Smith, though it is, of course, foolish to form judgements after one week of football.
This game is a...
49ers defense silences Lions offensive attack
There were no handshake incidents this time around only a San Francisco defense standing tall in a 27-19 victory over the Detroit Lions Sunday night.
The Lions’ vaunted pass offense was silenced by the San Francisco secondary as they held Calvin Johnson to eight catches for 94 yards and no touchdowns. And instead of relying on his number one target quarterback Matthew Stafford...
Lions-49ers primetime game storylines
It's only Week 2, but the hype continues to build for Sunday night's game between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers.
Two undefeated teams, both coming off playoff seasons, a prime-time setting at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, plenty of animosity between the sides and, of course, a controversy that simply wont go away.
What more can you ask for?
Here are five...
49ers defense shuts down Lions
The San Francisco 49ers stymied 2011 NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers in Week 1, then record-setting Matthew Stafford in Week 2.

Lions keys to the game vs. the San Francisco 49ers
After edging out a win last weekend against the St. Louis Rams, the 1-0 Lions head west to take on the San Francisco 49ers who looked very impressive last Sunday in a 30-22 win over the Green Bay Packers.
Now despite both teams entering this game 1-0, both teams appear to be in very different places amongst the rest of the NFC. With the Lions needing a drive in the final minutes...
