John Weinfuss of ESPN.com breaks down the Cardinals cornerback position as they prepare for free agency. According Weinfuss, there is a “good chance” that Arizona could release CB Jerraud Powers, despite the fact that they signed him to a three-year deal worth $10.5 million just last year. Doing so would free up $2.75 million, according to Overthecap.com. As for free agent targets, Weinfuss lists Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Walter Thurmond, Sam Shields, Tracy Porter, Alterraun Verner and Aaron Ross as some players that would fall into their price range. The Cardinals are projected to have a little over $9 million in available cap space as things stand right now. Of course, this can change depending on what they elect to do with Powers and some other players in the next few weeks. We have most of these guys listed in our Top 100 Free Agents list.     The post Cardinals Could Be In The Market For CB Help appeared first on NFL Trade Rumors -.

Thursday is upon us once again, and that means it’s time for the next part in our series of the worst players drafted by position in the history of the Cardinals franchise. This week we will search the annals of Cardinals history once again and open the book of horrors that has been the running back position for the Arizona Cardinals. Although the Cardinals were actually pretty...

Rashard Mendenhall is a top-10 free agent back

Arizona Cardinals running back Rashard Mendenhall is set to test the free agency waters in about a month. He’s listed as the number eight best free agent running back on our Top 10 list. The question remains why is he there? Yes, he’s a free agent but last season he was not performing at a level we’ve seen before out of him. Mendenhall’s eight touchdowns look good until you...

The Cardinals could begin searching for Carson Palmer's successor this offseason

The Arizona Cardinals finished their 2013 campaign in strong fashion, just missing the postseason with a 10-6 record. In the grand scheme of things, they were a playoff team that happened to be in the wrong division. Still, the momentum they gained at the end of Bruce Arians’ first season as their head coach should transfer well into 2014. The Cardinals were able to close out...

Tony Dungy Believes In Arizona Cardinals

(Matt York/ AP Photo) Maybe it’s time the  Arizona Cardinals start getting some respect. They went (10-6) last year,  and in a division that now houses the last two NFC Champions and current Super Bowl champions no less. What’s impressive is what Arizona accomplished last year.  Nobody really gave them much of a chance.  A  brand new Head Coach and  a new Quarterback usually...

Top 5 free agents Arizona needs to re-sign

The Arizona Cardinals have more than a dozen free agents set to hit the market in a few weeks. Let’s take a look at the five they need to retain the most. 5. Alameda Ta’Amu Defensive Lineman Ta’Amu was a solid contributor in relief of nose tackle Dan Williams. Ta’Amu was able to plug holes and played his role as a backup nose rather well. A torn ACL in the season finale with...

NFL free agent Kerry Rhodes says he’s focusing on acting and producing

Veteran safety Kerry Rhodes was not in the NFL last season. The seven-year pro last played for the Arizona Cardinals in the 2012 season. During that season, Rhodes picked off four passes and was part of the fifth-best pass defense in the NFL. With several teams needing help with their defense. There were of course the rumors and photos leaked by an ex-employee with an ax to grind...

Impact of Joey Porter Needs to Be Tempered

I’m just as excited as everyone else is that former Steelers’ linebacker Joey Porter is back with the organization but let’s slow down a bit. He has been hired to be a defensive assistant and his immediate responsibilities have not been made fully clear yet, but I think we can assume he’ll be working with the linebackers. I saw a lot of comments yesterday about the fact that...

Will 2014 be Fitzgerald’s last season in Arizona?

The Cardinals are one of the oldest franchises in the NFL and they have called Arizona home since 1988 after moving to Phoenix from St. Louis. The team has similar longevity to some of the most well known franchises in the game. Teams like the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, and New York Giants, who were all part of the league by the late 1920’s. There is one major difference...

Cards' free-agency look: Cornerback

There is one certainty at cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals in 2014. That is Patrick Peterson. The three-time Pro Bowl corner enters his fourth season as one of the foundations of the Cards’ defense. He will for sure be on one side of the field, lining up across the opponent’s best receiver. But it's unclear who will start opposite Peterson. Last season it was Jerraud...

Arizona Cardinals free agent needs: Running Backs

The Arizona Cardinals need a running back to fill out their roster. Rashard Mendenhall is going to be a free agent. Andre Ellington could be set to be the starter if Mendenhall doesn’t come back. Ryan Williams is a giant question mark after being scratched for all 16 games last season. Alfonso Smith and Stepfan Taylor are more of backup running backs at this point. Given that...

Where are they now? Larry Centers

The common perception of change is it usually comes slowly. Whether it’s the human body, the ecosystem or the way a game is played, change rarely comes overnight. But when it finally does reach a tipping point (thanks again, Malcolm), things are never the same. For a horrific current example of a world turned upside down, check out the New York Times opinion piece on the end of...

Do the Arizona Cardinals have anyone who passes “the Derek Jeter test?”

Yesterday, Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter announced that 2014 will be his final season. After what will be 20 years in pinstripes, No. 2 will hang up his cleats for good. The news generated all sorts of reaction, both inside Major League Baseball and outside the game, almost all of it positive. Praise for Jeter poured in from every corner, from all sorts of people. Why? Because he’s...

The Terrible Podcast – Talking Porter Hire, Colbert Comments, Draft Talk With Dane Brugler & More Episode

Season 4, Episode 78 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I start things off by talking about former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Joey Porter being added to the coaching staff as a defensive assistant and how that move might help improve the play and production of Jarvis Jones as well as helping the locker room from a leadership standpoint. General manager Kevin...
