NFL Injury Report:
Cardinals have several question marks on offense as they play the
division-rival St. Louis Rams this weekend. Perhaps the most notable name
appearing on the report is running back Rashard Mendenhall, who was acquired
via free agency this offseason.
Mendenhall is expected to shoulder the bulk of
the carries for the Cardinals this season, though head coach Bruce Arians
recently told reporters that all five running backs on the roster will have
some part in his offense. He was a limited participant in practice both
Wednesday and Thursday.
Mendenhall on the injury list is fellow running back—and rookie sixth round
draft pick—Andre Ellington, who was also limited in practice Thursday.
Below is a
list of the injured players on the Arizona Cardinals roster as well as their
practice status this week. These names were taken from the Cardinals official
Arenas (Hip) – Full Practice Participant
Ellington (Hamstring) – Limited Participant in Practice
Housler (Ankle) – Did Not Participate in Practice
Jefferson (Knee) – Limited Participant in Practice
Leach (Hamstring) – Full Practice Participant
Mendenhall (Knee) – Limited Participant in Practice
Roberts (Quadriceps) – Limited Participant in Practice
Williams (Ankle) – Limited Participant in Practice

TEMPE, Ariz. Until the Cardinals can shore up their run defense, the defensive line will come under scrutiny despite its wealth of talent. The Cardinals finished 29th against the run last season (137 yards per game), and that simply wont do.
Previous defensive coordinator Ray Horton said those numbers were overrated and that points allowed and turnovers were the keys to a successful...

Three years ago, the NFC West was won by a 7-9 Seattle Seahawks team, causing many to dismiss the division as capable of producing perennial playoff powerhouses.
2013 paints a different picture, however. The division now features two of the premiere programs in the National Football League in the 49ers and the Seahawks, and two franchises not far...
Setting the Stage
This Week One matchup, from a Cards perspective, is a great way to rip the training wheels off and see how this revamped Cardinals team performs.
Last season, the Cardinals found no success against Jeff Fisher’s team, losing both matchups. Also worth noting, St Louis was the first team to defeat the Cardinals in the 2013 season after the Birdgang started 4-0...
The Arizona Cardinals are a vastly different team than the one who walked out of Candlestick Park following the completion of a 5-11 season, having lost 11 of their final 12 games in 2012. It was a season which began with much optimism but ended in despair. A 4-0 start had many believing the playoffs were a possibility, but a week 5 injury to starting quarterback Kevin Kolb...
TEMPE, Ariz. If Michael Floyds preseason hype is validated by the 2013 regular season, life will be good for Larry Fitzgerald.
We all have to help each other out, said the always-diplomatic Fitzgerald.
Thats true, but if Floyd can take some of the pressure and coverage off of Fitzgerald by using his size and winning 50-50 balls, quarterback Carson Palmer will have a better variety...
TEMPE, Ariz. It would be hard to tab one area of the Cardinals roster as the biggest recipient of the Steve KeimBruce Arians makeover. With two new quarterbacks, three new running backs, two new offensive line starters and a remade secondary, more than half the faces are new.
Thats just the trend in the NFL, Arians said.
But one position that should have fans particularly excited...
Cardinals’ tight end Rob Housler is still considered day to day with a sprained
right ankle, according to ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss. Housler missed Wednesday’s team
practice due to his ailment, but spent time on the stationary bike while his
teammates practiced inside. New head coach Bruce Arians has frequently used
two-tight end sets on offense in the past, so he...
An image of Pat Tillman will lead Arizona State players onto the field for every home game. This is an awesome move by the university to not only pay tribute to one of their alumni/war hero, but to also remind players of the values of courage and honor represented by Mr. Tillman. Nicely done. Pat Tillman was an Arizona Cardinals safety until enlisting in the armed forces in the...
(Eds: Updates. Stands for FBN--Cardinals-Run Defense on some digests.) By BOB BAUM AP Sports Writer Darnell Dockett enters his 10th NFL season proud to have been elected a team captain - a title he didn't have during a difficult season a year ago. Just don't call him a role model.
Dockett emphasized that point in talking to reporters after the Arizona Cardinals practiced...

No. 1 Larry Fitzgerald Finds The End ZoneDoes anybody else feel like Larry Fitzgerald has gotten much more than his share of getting shafted over the past few years? Not since Kurt Warner has Fitzgerald had a quarterback who can get him the ball and allow him to perform like he is capable of. Now that the Cardinals have brought in Carson Palmer, it seems likely that Fitzgerald...

This season, the doors leading from Arizona State University’s locker room tunnel onto the field turf will be decorated with decals depicting Pat Tillman walking out onto that same field. It’s a pretty great move by the school to honor not only one of their own, but also to pay homage to an American hero.
Tillman, who played safety for the Sun Devils before becoming one of the...
