There is no need for the grounds crew to slide the entire 100-yard football field inside University of Phoenix Stadium on Monday when the Cardinals resume training camp practices.
Twenty yards or so will do just fine at least for the offense.
That’s the part of the field that’s given the Cardinals problems in the first two preseason games. And although they beat the Cowboys 12-7 on Saturday afternoon the red zone was a dead zone for the Cardinals.
They failed to score a touchdown on five possessions inside the Cowboys’ 20 including four times in the first half. As a result they led just 9-0 at halftime despite running 49 plays and the Cowboys committing five turnovers.
This does not sit well with coach Bruce Arians who sees himself as a play caller who will go for the throat.
On Saturday sometimes you couldn’t tell where the Cardinals were aiming.
