The Arizona Cardinals have selected defensive tackle Dan Williams out of Tennesse with the 26th pick in the draft.
Drafting a DT in the first round is rarely the sexy pick, that being said I think this was the right pick for the Cardinals. Arizona needed a nose tackle to help plug the middle of their 3-4 defense. Bryan Robinson is pretty old and a free agent and won’t be resigned. Gabe Watson has had bad knee issues and can’t stay healthy, and Alan Branch hasn’t been the DT he was suppose to be although he has shown signs of improvement. Williams was suppose to go in the top 10 according to some so called draft experts but happened to fall to 26 for the Cardinals. Arizona had Dan ranked as the 11th best player on their board. So Ken Whisenhunt and staff were thrilled to see him fall.
