In a move that wasn't unexpected following the offseason acquisitions of Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton, the Cardinals on Monday released quarterback Brian Hoyer. Hoyer had become superfluous with the additions of Palmer, who has already been named the team's starter, and veteran backup Drew Stanton, who played under new coach Bruce Arians in Indianapolis last season. The Cardinals also have second-year quarterback Ryan Lindley, a sixth-round pick in 2012, under contract. The 27-year-old Hoyer played in two games, going 19 for 34 for 225 yards with one touchdown and one interception. His only start came in the season finale, a 27-13 loss to the 49ers. He would have made about 2 million next season. Also on Monday, the Cardinals signed rookie linebacker Kevin Minter, their second-round pick out of LSU, to a four-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were no disclosed. The team now has all of its draft picks other than first-rounder Jonathan Cooper under contract. Also signed Monday were center Adam Bice and quarterback Caleb TerBush, both of whom participated in the Cardinals' rookie minicamp on tryouts over the weekend after going undrafted. Bice played collegiately at Akron and was a two-year starter on the offensive line, playing right tackle as a senior after starting at center as a junior. TerBush played in 22 games in his career at Purdue, completing 283 of 476 passes for 3,077 yards with 25 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Last season, TerBush started seven games while sharing starting quarterback duties.
