Carson Wentz made an appearance on Philly radio Tuesday morning and provided an update on how his rehabilitation following a knee injury is progressing.

Most interestingly, Wentz said the goal remains for him to be on the field with his Philadelphia Eagles teammates at the onset of the 2018 NFL season.

“That is definitely my goal. Timetables and all those things are always such a fluid thing,” Wentz said on 94WIP, via NJ.com. “Obviously can’t come out and make a declaration on anything, but my goal is to be playing in Week 1.”

Wentz went down with the season-ending knee injury during a Week 14 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, suffering a torn ACL and LCL. And now, Wentz is focused on returning to his rightful spot under center alongside the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII-winning squad.

“So far everything has been great,” Wentz said of his rehab. “It is obviously still early, just progressing through and everything looks good.

“… It is definitely not fun. Nobody enjoys rehab. It can be a long process. Unfortunately, but fortunately, I’ve got a handful of guys in there as well. Great guys, great teammates. The same way I do everything in life, I am going to attack it, and I have no worries and no fears it won’t get better.”

Wentz’s aggressive style of play in large part led to his knee injury. But he insists he has no intentions of changing despite the injury setback.

“I definitely won’t change, so to speak. That has what made me successful this last season and my whole career,” Wentz said. “It is something I’ve learned since coming into the league — how to protect myself … I am not going to let this change me.”

It must have been extremely difficult for Wentz to watch from the sideline as the Eagles notched the franchises first Super Bowl win. Perhaps it will make him even hungrier. After all, Wentz was enjoying an MVP-caliber season when he went down. And it sure sounds like he’s dead set on being on the field in Week 1.
