The San Diego Chargers' struggling aerial attack might be short-handed Thursday night against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs. The team went through its final practice Wednesday, with wide receivers Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal not participating. Both are battling hamstring issues, and if they can't go Thursday, two of the team's top three wide receivers would be out. Royal, who also returns punts, didn't play in Sunday's loss at Cleveland. Meachem did and was targeted three times, but he didn't catch a pass, and he dropped a potential touchdown reception. If Meachem and Royal can't go, two newcomers figure to see action along with starter Malcom Floyd. Seyi Ajirotutu was signed this week. He was with the team for 10 games in 2010, so the belief is he could be thrown right into the mix. He appeared in 14 games for the Carolina Panthers last year but had only one reception for 4 yards. Danario Alexander was signed for depth last month, but he has yet to record a reception. He's been targeted once. If quarterback Philip Rivers is looking to get rebound -- his offense doesn't have a touchdown in six straight quarters -- he will likely have to do some by incorporating some little-used wideouts into the game plan.
