Cornerback Quentin Jammer responded to chatter that the Chargers have had preliminary discussions about free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, a move that would force one of their top-flight corners to the safety position, but the odds of signing Asomugha who played under Norv Turner when he was Oakland Raiders head coach are extremely rare (i.e. completely unthinkable) for a number of reasons. The Chargers dont go after such high profile free agents and wouldnt use so much money to anchor a position of strength. Antoine Cason had an excellent season at corner and received praise by Chargers decision makers. Jammer has acknowledged an eventual move to safety, but doesnt believe that should happen soon. I could do that somewhere down the road, Jammer said on 1090 AM. If we sign Nnamdi and they want me to move, Ill move. That said, I believe I have 3-4 more years at cornerback. But my main goal is to win a Super Bowl, and Im not above doing whatever it takes to get us there. Turner also said on 1360 AM on Thursday that he said Jammer would stay at corner, essentially ending speculation that Asomugha could be a Charger in the future.
