Bob Sanders brings plenty of injury questions with him to San Diego, having played more than 13 games in a season only twice in his seven-year pro career and only nine games the past three seasons. More importantly, however, is that he brings toughness to the secondary and Pro Football Weekly heard that the Chargers aggressively pursued Sanders when he hit the market despite knowing that he can't be an every-down player. Eric Weddle and Steve Gregory ably filled the starting safety positions in 2010 when San Diego had the NFL's No. 1 defense. Now, if the team can re-sign Weddle, a potential free-agent, to go along with Sanders and Gregory, new defensive coordinator Greg Manusky can try a variety of different blitzes and formations, using Sanders' knack for stuffing run plays to the team's advantage while keeping all three players fresh.
