Manti Te'o missed the first three games of his rookie season with a foot injury.
It appears the ailment didn't go away entirely.
The Chargers linebacker had surgery this month, a team spokesman said Tuesday. The official spoke in response to an Instagram account that leaked a foot surgery occurring last week, although the spokesman said he could not confirm the account's authenticity.
The social media page, which claims to be Te'o's, posted an X-ray of a right foot that appears to show a surgically-mended stress fracture of the third metatarsal. A second photo shows a right foot in a cast, resting atop an apparent hospital bed.
"Surgery went well. Thanks for all the prayers!" one caption read. "Can't wait to heal up and get on my grind! #blessed."
"Broke my foot in the beginning of the season and finally got it fixed," another caption read. "Thank you Heavenly Father for these doctors."

Draft season is almost upon us, folks. As we went over on Tuesday, San Diego’s primary focus in this upcoming draft should be on defense. Today, we will take a look at the top five options for the Chargers to improve their embattled secondary. Some slight improvements in the defensive backfield could bring this team to new heights in 2014.
5. Jason Verrett, CB, Texas Christian...
If the San Diego Chargers had played better defense throughout the year, it’s not out of the realm of possibility they could be the team in New Jersey this week instead of the Denver Broncos. Because of that obvious downside and the just as obvious success of the offense, the prevailing sentiment heading into the offseason is San Diego needs to address those issues in the draft...
Today, we bring to you the inaugural Wood Layer Wednesday where we feature a player who horrified wide receivers attempting to go over the middle. While we are all for increased safety and player health, football is a physical game, and players like Rodney Harrison molded the sport into what it has become. If you are like me, you grew up watching football that was about pounding...

If you ask any Chargers fan how they feel about the team, you wold more than likely get the same response. “They are a playoff team, but not quite a Super Bowl contention team.” They have one of the leagues most elite quarterback in Philip Rivers, a dynamic one-two punch with Danny Woodhead and Ryan Matthews and one of...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- San Diego defensive coordinator John Pagano was asked right before his Week 15 matchup with Peyton Manning and the Broncos just how he planned to slow down the future Hall of Famer.
"Drop 11 (into coverage)," Pagano replied, smiling.
Pagano, of course, was kidding. But plenty of defensive coordinators throughout the years have understood the hopelessness...
On Sunday, the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks will square off in Super Bowl XLVIII, with two dedicated fan bases tuning in to root for their team like they do every week. Both groups are worthy of being happy by day’s end, as their ability to stick with their team through thick and thin deserves a positive outcome.
The same can’t be said for every fan base in the NFL. Some...
A few weeks ago, it was written that the San Diego Chargers should focus on the defensive side of the ball when it came to free agency. With free agency looming, that sentiment still remains true. But, Tom Telesco should not just make it a priority during the months of March and April. Once the month of May hits, the Charger front office should advance this plan of action to the...
