Charlie Batch got 2 early Christmas presents today.  He got his first start and first win of the year for the Steelers.  The second was more important though.  Charlie Batch no longer holds the title of last Detroit Lions Quarterback to make the playoffs.  With the Lions win today against the Chargers Matthew Stafford is now the latest Lions Quarterback to make the playoffs. Batch has held this distinction since 1999.  That was a millennium ago.  Tom Brady was still slinging the ball for Michigan down the street from Batch and the Lions.  Ben Roethlisberger was still a wide receiver playing high school ball in Ohio.  It was quite some time ago.  Twelve years to be exact. He started 10 games for the Lions that season.  They went 8-8 and made the playoffs.  The played the Redskins in the first round and lost but it was still Batch that got them there.  This is something I bet Batch is glad he does not have to look back at every year.  He now has 2 Super Bowl rings and got a big victor...

Looks like the Steelers heard my pleas. Ben Roethlisberger will not play on Saturday, and Charlie Batch will be under center against the St. Louis Rams.
