2.18 Chicago Bears Jonathan Bostic, ILB, Florida (6-0⅞, 245) With the eighteenth selection (50th overall) in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select inside linebacker Jonathan Bostic from the University of Florida.  The Bears needed to replace the future hall of famer Brian Urlacher in the middle of the defense and Bostic will have the momentous task of doing so in the future.  For right now, the veteran free agent D.J. Williams from Denver will be the player manning the middle.  This gives Bostic time to develop into the impact player that the Bears hope he will become. Bostic is a durable player (26 consecutive starts) that produced solid numbers throughout his career for the Gators (five interceptions and two forced fumbles).  Bostic has high-end speed for the position, running a 4.61 40-yard dash.  He has trouble changing direction due to being a bit stiff and this can limit some of his range.  He needs to work on consistency in different areas of his ga...

Bears RB Matt Forte has a decent Chicago mansion with a killer basement (PICS)

via Realtor.com Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte deserved to treat himself to something nice for having to put up with quarterback Jay Cutler on a regular basis.  Forte’s disdain for Mr. Cavallari (I may or may not be making that up) forced him to buy a house that’s roughly a 45 minute drive to Soldier Field.  Of course, in Chicago’s traffic, that might means he’s...

Bears top draft pick Kyle Long will miss most of offseason training activities

According to Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune, due to NFL rules that prohibit Chicago Bears’ 1st round draft pick Kyle Long from organized team activities that start Monday and the mandatory veteran minicamp in June. Long’s class schedule at Oregon, where he played in the fall, and NFL rules indicate that draft picks cannot participate only in the rookie minicamp until his...

Chicago Bears Full Offseason Recap Part 1: Coaching Staff

The rush of free agency has come and gone, and the NFL Draft has come to pass with mixed reactions about how the Bears decided to approach their first round pick. Way before all of that happened, the coaching staff was completely gutted and replaced. There’s no doubting the Bears improved this offseason. The question now is “by how much?” In this recap, I’ll be assessing...

NFL players sex house linked to a murder

Photo from Chicago Bears.com According to the Orlando Sentinel, a house that was linked to the shooting of a 15 year-old girl is owned by NFL player’s Mike Sims-Walker, Brandon Marshall and Chris Johnson. Sims-Walker helped aid the police in their investigation, per the Sentinel. Prosecutors have described the home on Robbins Avenue as a nondescript setting where pro athletes could...

Five questions for Bears rookie mini-camp

The Chicago Bears and new head coach Marc Trestman get their first “live” look at the team’s 2013 rookie class this weekend at mini-camp. As the draft choices and invited first-year players convene at Halas Hall, here are five questions that will start to be addressed: 1. Is top pick Kyle Long ready to challenge for a starting job? Long [...]

Top ten Chicago Bears draft picks since 1995: Part 1

We are in that long, dull time of the offseason when the draft is over, free agency has (mostly) ended, and football is still too far away.  What is a die-hard NFL fan to do?  I’m so glad you asked! Borrowing from WCSN’s own Michael Helton, I thought it would be fun to stir some [...]The post Top ten Chicago Bears draft picks since 1995: Part 1 by Jon Vander Woude appeared...

2013 NFL Draft Team Grades: Chicago Bears

First Round: Kyle Long, OT/G, Oregon Another pick I'm shocked at. I think Long is better than Pugh, but still don't think he should be a first round selection. I'm shocked the Bears passed on Eiffert and Ogletree, who are much better players and better values. Long will most likely be put at guard for Chicago, with Bushrod and Webb on the ends. However, he will...

Pace Tabbed For College Football Hall Of Fame

Few would argue Orlando Pace was one of the most dominating Ohio State football players of all time, and now the offensive lineman who lettered from 1994-96 is being so recognized on a national scale. Pace was selected Tuesday afternoon for enshrinement in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Bears agree to 4-year deal with LB Bostic

The Chicago Bears have agreed to a four-year contract with second-round draft pick Jon Bostic. A linebacker at Florida, Bostic started every game his final two years in the middle for the Gators and figures to compete with veteran free agent acquisition D.J. Williams for Brian Urlacher's old job. Bostic made eight sacks, 19 1/2 tackles for loss and five interceptions in his...

The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms on a four-year contract with second-round linebacker Jon Bostic. The team has now signed five of its six 2013 draft picks.

Wuerffel, Testaverde, Pace, Dayne lead college HOF class

NEW YORK (AP) The only time Tommie Frazier and Danny Wuerffel shared the field during their brilliant college careers, Frazier's Nebraska team trampled Wuerffel and Florida in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl to win the national championship. Wuerffel and the Gators bounced back from that record-breaking 62-24 smackdown to take the title the next season. The former quarterbacks will cross...

Brandon Marshall & Chris Johnson “Sex House” Linked to Shooting of 15 Year Old Girl

You might have read the title and was shocked, but you really shouldn’t be. If you have any knowledge of the 90′s Cowboys you should be aware that athletes have “side house” for their groupies, jumpoffs and mistresses. It is a place they can have their affairs and not worried about being hassle by their wives or girlfriends. Normally, a group of players rent out a place under...

Former Buckeye Orlando Pace named to College Football Hall of Fame

Former Ohio State All-American offensive tackle Orlando Pace will join former Cleveland Browns quarterback Vinnie Testaverde as members in the newest class for the College Football Hall of Fame. Pace, the 24th Buckeye player to make the Hall, is considered one of the most dominant offensive linemen in college football history, finishing fourth in the Heisman voting in 1996. Winner...

Bedlam Baseball Has Arrived

When a new head coach takes over a tradition-rich program with a tradition-rich rival, things can get interesting. For example, former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith. In Smith’s first press conference, he told the media his number one goal was to beat the Green Bay Packers. It was the first shot fired in the next chapter of the NFL’s longest-running rivalry.
