The Kansas City Chiefs, after getting off to a woeful 0-3 start, seem to have righted the ship, winning their last two games.  Granted those wins came against a dreadfully bad Minnesota Vikings team, and a Colts team missing 230-pounds of Peyton Manning.  But hey, wins are wins, irregardless of how weak your opponents are.

To what can the Chiefs attribute their newfound success?  Improved play from QB Matt Cassel (7 TDs to 1 INT in last 3 games) perhaps? Or maybe it’s because Pro Bowl receiver Dwayne Bowe is heating up as of late (3 TDs in last 2 games).

Nah…it’s all due to coach Todd Haley improving team togetherness via the addition of a popular tailgating game, the old “cornhole” beanbag toss game.

Of course.

Haley had a pair of the wooden boards adorned with the Chiefs logo placed in the locker room before the Vikings game in order to build team unity.  The game is similar to horseshoes, in that participants attempt to toss a beanbag into, or as close to, a hole cut into the playing board.

You can’t argue with the results.

Says Haley (via KansasCity.com)…

“We’ve been trying to figure out ways to create togetherness,” said Haley, who has also yet to shave since the Chiefs’ ministreak began, “and it’s been great. It’s a way to keep guys hanging around and interacting with each other, and winning helps out.”

Maybe Dolphins coach Tony Sparano can try something similar to help his winless Miami squad. Beer pong might work for the Fins. At the very least it’ll take a bit of the sting of losing away by getting the players stupid drunk.
