The Kansas City Chiefs have officially hired their new general manager. John Dorsey
The Chiefs hired John Dorsey, as their new general manager. He will officially be introduced in Kansas City on Monday.
This is the third straight year that the Packers have lost Ted Thompson’s right-hand man. Last season, the Oakland Raiders hired Reggie McKenzie as their general manager. In 2011, the Seattle Seahawks hired John Schneider as their general manager.
Dorsey is coming into a situation, where the head coach has all the power. Andy Reid has all the power with the Chiefs, much like Pete Carroll has with the Seahawks.
Dorsey and Reid have previously worked together with the Green Bay Packers from 1992 to 1998. And he brings 22 years of NFL player personnel experience to the job.
He was named the Director of Football Operations before the 2012 season. Prior to his new appointment, he was the Director of College Scouting for the Packers from 2000 through 2012.
He spent a year with the Seattle Seahawks in 1999, as their Director of Player Personnel. He resigned to come back to the Packers. He was also the Packers Director of College Scouting in 1997 and 1998.
He was a college scout from 1991 to 1997 after his playing career ended. He played for the Packers from 1984 to 1989.
