Life is good when you’re an effective placekicker, playing on a team with a stagnant offense that rarely finds the end zone. Life is even better when you’re paid quite handsomely for your results. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chiefs signed kicker Ryan Succop to a five-year, $14 million extension Friday. The deal, which runs through 2016, includes a $2 million signing bonus and $2 million in guaranteed salary for next season. The value of the new pact could reach as high as $14.675 million if additional incentives are met. Succop was drafted in 2009 by Kansas City and has connected on 69-of-84 career field goals. This season, he’s made 24-of-29 tries, with a long of 54-yards. Now financially set — both in life and the NFL — Succop, formerly known as Mr. Irrelevant, figures to remain in K.C. for the long term.
