There is no Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III in the 2013 quarterback class and the Kansas City Chiefs may have to trade for a reliable signal caller. According to Bill Williamson of ESPN.com, the weak crop of college quarterbacks could lead the Chiefs to the trade market to obtain an Alex Smith or Matt Flynn, of course if Michael Vick becomes available; he’d be the top choice for Kansas City. Williamson writes: ‘A major step in the NFL draft-evaluation process is complete. Still, there doesn’t appear to be a quarterback who is currently worthy of being a high draft pick. That, of course, is being noted by the new brass of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft and their biggest need this offseason is a quarterback.  Unless something drastically changes, it doesn’t appear the Chiefs will find their next quarterback with that pick.’ var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});

  • um...why not BOTH?? Flynn is a career backup, plain and simple. He has weapons and can get the job done if called on. Alex Smith has been judged by a revolving door of offensive coordinators and schemes. Bring him in, let him roll, and let one of the highest rated QB's from last year run the ship. Even if it costs a second round or third round pick. But look at trading DOWN from #1 for the pick to give up, and find a BEAST WR to replace Bowe (I don't see him returning.
  • Vick should not even be on the radar, let alone the "top choice". KC will lose a lot of fans if he is signed, including my wife and myself. Would rather be a Broncos fan than a Vick led KC.
  • I agree, I love the Chiefs but can't root for Vick.
  • I would love to see Mike Vick here in kansas city.
  • go for alex dont even think about bringing vick here to kc. he shouldnt even be playing in the nfl. if vick comes to kc i'll be a dolfins fan
  • I have put up with a mountain of crap with the Chiefs the last forty two years, but I swear, if the bring in Vick, I am done!
  • I think Alex Smith is the best choice for the quarterback position...I'm from kansas and been a Chiefs fan for 42 years, I dont think Vick is the choice for kansas City. I also believe that we should also sign Matt Flynn as a back up. That way we have two awesome quarterbacks.

Toub brings Pro Bowl mentality to KC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. The popular perception about new Chiefs special teams coach Dave Toub is that, while in Chicago, he was only as good as the mega-talented Devin Hester. At one point ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. thought the Kansas City Chiefs should draft Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o with the first pick.  Now he’s dropped him out of his top 10. More of a sense now that Te’o is certain to drop some on positional value, a bigger issue than anything to do with the hoax. He has exceptional football instincts, a ton of experience and...
