If the Browns ever trade Josh Gordon he wants them to know they would be dealing someone who’s determined to become a star like fellow wide receivers Andre Johnson of the Houston Texans and A.J. Green of the Cincinnati Bengals. Gordon and the Browns (1-2) will face Green and the Bengals (2-1) Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland. “I want to reach that goal of being one of the household names the kind of NFL athletes that you could refer to when you think of wide receiver big-play kind of guy like those kind of guys are” Gordon said Wednesday. “I work on it every week and going out there and doing it during the game is the biggest time to prove it.” After ESPN reported Sunday morning that the Browns were fielding trade offers for Gordon he responded with a career-high 10 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown in their 31-27 win over the Minnesota Vikings. On Monday Browns coach Rob Chudzinski said the organization had no plans to trade Gordon. “[Chudzinski] texted me the other day talking about it and just reassuring me there were no trade offers or anything like that” Gordon said. Still Gordon isn’t taking anything for granted after the team traded running back Trent Richardson the third overall pick in last year’s draft in exchange for the Indianapolis Colts’ first-round selection in 2014. “The fact that [Chudzinski] said there wasn’t [a plan to trade me] it makes me feel a little more comfortable” Gordon said. “At the same time anything can happen. “I guess after what happened to Trent I think that’s probably the way it’s going for a lot of these guys. You’re going to think about it until the [trade] deadline definitely happens [Oct. 29].” Jim Brown weighs in Browns special adviser and Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown offered his view of the Richardson deal during an episode of Showtime’s Inside the NFL on Wednesday night. “I was surprised” Brown said per a transcript provided by Showtime. “But then I thought it was a brilliant move. … Because first of all Trent couldn’t have carried the kind of load that Cleveland needed. But with [Colts quarterback] Andrew Luck Andrew won’t need as much and the two of them can really do a lot for their team. And Cleveland with their draft choices I think they were going to look at a quarterback.”
