Speedy Clemson running back Andre Ellington lasted until the 6th round, when the Arizona Cardinals saw the opportunity to grab him with the 187th pick overall. Ellington earned first team all-conference and finished as Clemson's fourth leader in rushing in school history with 3,436 yards, just below former teammate C.J. Spiller. Although his 40 time (4.6) is misleading, he will have to shake off the injury prone label. The Positive: Ellington is undersized, but makes the most of it with near-elite agility and change of direction. Isn’t a shake and bake back, He’s more in the mold of Joseph Addai in looking for the opening and making one cut up field. Prefers to find a crease and run up in it hard. Not afraid of contact. Ellington has big-play ability and his acceleration is very good. The Negative: Missed a lot of practice and a fair number of games in his collegiate career. Too often tries to slide outside to break off a big play instead of just getting positive yards. Works against the grain too much. Must learn to fall forward and move the pile. He has to work on ball security as fumbles are a big concern going to the next level. Average in pass protection. More Videostat Profiles
