The best way to set up a young quarterback, even one projected to be as good as Andrew Luck, is to arm him with a good running game. New Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano believes he has found the running back who can help make things easier for Luck - and he is right on the roster in former first-round pick Donald Brown, according to the Indianapolis Star. “Donald is an every down back,” Pagano said during the Colts' OTAs. “He is doing a tremendous job and he is having a fantastic offseason. He understands, especially on third down as far as protections go and all of those things. Nothing is going to be more important than protections.” Brown, a first-round pick in 2009, has mostly been a bust since joining the Colts, having battled injuries and being low on the depth chart at times. But Pagano likes the 4.8 yards per carry Brown had last year and believes he can do more in 2012.

Colts Sign Mewelde Moore, Release QB David Legree

The Colts released quarterback David Legree yesterday, and replaced him on the roster with free agent running back Mewelde Moore.  Legree was signed in late May as a free agent when the Colts released tight end Brody Eldridge. Legree was nothing more than a camp arm, filling in as Luck was in school and Mr. Irrelevant Chandler Harnish nursed an injury.  Moore, on the other hand...

Roster Move: Colts Cut QB Trevor Vittatoe, Have Open Roster Spot

Yesterday, the Colts cut QB David Legree and signed RB Mewelde Moore. Today, the Colts announced the release of another UDFA quarterback, Trevor Vittatoe. This leaves the Colts with Andrew Luck, Drew Stanton, and Chandler Harnish at the quarterback position. The Colts will likely carry three quarterbacks into the season, since they no longer have ironman Peyton Manning at the helm...

Luck not worried about unsettled contract

Andrew Luck is keeping his focus on football. He'll let others worry about his new contract. The No. 1 overall draft pick says that even though he cannot attend training camp until he signs a deal, he is not worried about the lack of one becoming an impediment for reporting to training camp. The Colts report to Anderson University, an NCAA Division III school about 30 miles...

Andrew Luck Still Waiting for Contract From Colts

Before the new collective bargaining agreement put in place after the lockout ended last year, you would usually see the top pick in the draft sign his deal and then we would work our way down after the market had been set. But with the new deal in place, we’re seeing that things are going to be quite different. 17 of the first 32 picks in the draft have come to terms or signed...

Arians will play key role in Luck's improvement

INDIANAPOLIS -- Bruce Arians, the Indianapolis Colts' new offensive coordinator, is certainly no stranger when it comes to tutoring and developing young, highly talented young quarterbacks. Arians was the Colts' quarterbacks coach in 1998 when the team drafted eventual franchise icon Peyton Manning with the first overall pick of the National Football League draft. He was...

Colts sign QB Andrew Luck

The Indianapolis Colts have signed No. 1 overall pick Andrew Luck. The quarterback's agent and uncle, Will Wilson, confirmed Thursday that the deal had been completed. The 5 Biggest Newbie Mistakes In Fantasy Football

Fantasy football is back and with it comes a crop of new names such as Browns RB Trent Richardson and Colts QB Andrew Luck. It also brings with it a bumper crop of other newbies with names like Louie’s Lizards, Buccaneer Bruisers and Show Me Da Money. The latter group will probably get invited to join a fantasy league at work, through a friend or simply because they were the...

Winning Over a City and Growing a Fanbase, Part II

This series will take a look at the ever growing perception of the exaggerated "problem" of Colts' fanhood. Specifically that the Colts' fan base is fairweather and weak when compared to similar markets such as Pittsburgh, Green Bay, and Kansas City. While I find the outcry over the slightly lower rate of season ticket renewals to be very exagerrated (and way offbase...
