Indianapolis Colts fans were hoping to see defensive end Dwight Freeney on the cover of this year’s Madden game. Unfortunately, Freeney will have to wait until next year to give it another shot after losing in the first round of this year’s Madden 2012 Cover Vote. This year, EA Sports teamed up with ESPN’s SportsNation to host a 32-player tournament in which fans can vote for which player they would like to see on this year’s cover of Madden. Freeney entered the tournament as a No. 14 seed–but lost to Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew in the first round after receiving just 34 percent of the votes from fans. Freeney has been the key factor for the Colts’ defense and is coming off his third-straight season with 10+ sacks. While it’s a disappointment he won’t be on this year’s cover, at least Indy fans can enter next season knowing their beloved defensive end doesn’t have to worry about the Madden curse. Da...
