Prior to the start of the training camp, it seemed like the Indianapolis Colts would have an interesting battle for the No. 2 spot at wide receiver between Pierre Garcon and Anthony Gonzalez. With only one preseason game remaining, it turns out there’s not really much of a battle as Garcon appears to have already won the spot. Garcon played in his first game of the preseason on Thursday night in the Colts 59-24 loss to the Green Bay Packers after dealing with an injury most of training camp. He finished with two receptions for 42 yards—including an 18-yard touchdown reception from Peyton Manning during the second play on offense. With Garcon’s strong preseason debut, he appears to be the favorite as the No. 2 wideout over Gonzalez. Last season, Gonzalez suffered a serious knee injury during Week 1 and was expected to return mid-season.
