Ahmad Bradshaw is off the PUP list and Colts coach Chuck Pagano is already raving about the 27-year-old running back.
“It’ll be great to get him out there,” Pagano said of Bradshaw, via ESPN. “He’s an every-down back. I know he can be a third-down back. I know he can be a pass protector.”
Ideally the Colts plan to share the load in the backfield between Bradshaw and Vick Ballard.
Thus far Bradshaw has not practiced and he has already been ruled out of this weekend’s preseason game against the New York Giants. His status for the third preseason game against Cleveland is unknown.
Bradshaw said he felt good appearing at practice on Tuesday in shorts and a t-shirt.
“I feel great right now,” Bradshaw said. “I feel I’m ready to go. It’s just a process I have to go through to be ready for the pounding and practices every day.”
Last year Ballard led the Colts with 814 yards rushing. Bradshaw ran for 1,015 for the New York Giants last year. Those combined numbers would come close to matching
