Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson continues to place a great deal of emphasis on getting new faces on the team for the 2012 offensive line. New to the mix is former first round pick George Foster (2003 - Denver). To make room for the acquisition, Indy parted ways with fullback Ryan Mahaffey. Foster has journeyed around the NFL, spending time with Denver, Detroit, Cleveland, and New Orleans. He also spent one season with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League (2010-2011). Like the other offensive linemen Grigson has target, Foster is much larger than the Colts have traditionally used at 6-foot 5-inches tall and 338 pounds. Foster built his reputation blocking for running backs Tatum Bell and Mike Anderson in Denver, along with helping the Broncos limit opponents to only 15 sacks on the season in 2004, a franchise record. He was a reliable starter early in his career but was cut by the Lions in 2009 and has not made a meaningful impact since. The New Orleans Saints took out a flyer on Foster last season. Now he will enter a crowded competition with the Colts, and will boast the most NFL experience of any other linemen this summer and potentially during training camp.
