  Of course Indianapolis Colts fans are talking about the Curse of Dan Orlovsky. Why shouldn’t they? The only other time the 28-year-old vet has played as a pro, he helped the 2008 Lions to the first 0-16 record in NFL history. And now, according to Colts’ head coach Jim Caldwell, he’s taking over the reins of an 0-11 team with only the slightest prospects of winning. But maybe it’s not all Orlovsky’s fault. I mean, he did pilot UConn to a 23-13 record in three seasons as a starter, including their first year as a Big East team. And while he did go 0-7 as a starter for the Lions, respected passers Jon Kitna and Duante Culpepper managed to lose the other nine games looking as bad or worse than Orlovsky. Except for one thing. Week 5 of 2008, Orlovsky dropped back into the end zone to pass. Suddenly, Vikings’ pass-rush terror Jared Allen broke free. Orlovsky, eyes on Allen and clearly not realizing exactly where he was, ran out of the end zone giving the Vikings a safety. And, of course, the Lions lost by exactly two points.
