The Indianapolis Colts have gotten the message. Their owner cares how they look in the preseason, and he expects a better showing Sunday night in New York against the Giants.
One day after Jim Irsay apologized to fans on Twitter for what he described as a ''crap performance,'' coach Chuck Pagano promised the starters would play longer and the Colts would perform better.
The message apparently has resonated in the locker room, too.
Defensive tackle Cory Redding acknowledged Tuesday that Irsay's comments ''lit a fire'' under some of his teammates. And Andrew Luck said the Colts do not want to ''disappoint'' their owner.
Irsay said he had already expressed his thoughts to his ''commanders'' when he posted his note Monday.

Colts owner Jim Irsay showed some frustration on Twitter following the Colts loss to the Bills in this year’s first preseason game. He’s caught some flak in the media and from fans, but as far as I’m concerned it’s a good thing. It’s time to take the training wheels off, build depth, and become a truly well-rounded team. It’s time for legitimate new success.
The Indianapolis Colts have activated running back Ahmad Bradshaw and linebacker Pat Angerer from the physically unable to perform list.
Both are eligible to practice, though Bradshaw said Tuesday he would not play against the Giants, his former team, on Sunday night.

Ahmad Bradshaw’s latest step on his return from foot surgery to the Indianapolis Colts’ backfield came with a nudge from the outside.
The veteran running back is on the active roster after spending the first two weeks of training camp on the physically unable to perform list. While the Colts might have activated Bradshaw this week the NFL made certain the transfer happened sooner...
Injuries are forcing the Indianapolis Colts to improvise their tight-end friendly game plan.
On Wednesday, new offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton noted that with only two healthy tight ends on the roster - rookie Justice Cunningham and Dominique Jones - the Colts are trying different things. Offensive tackle Bradley Sowell has already worked a little bit at tight end, and other...

The first step has technically started -- running back Ahmad Bradshaw being put on the active roster. The next step -- having Bradshaw and Vick Ballard share reps in the backfield -- is likely still days away.
But the vision is there.

There has been talk around the NFL that Indianapolis Colts
tight end Coby Fleener is a candidate to take a big step forward this season.
However, the second-year pro’s step could be hampered by a concussion that
sidelined him at practice yesterday, according to Pro Football Talk.
At this point, Fleener is going through the NFL’s concussion
protocol. He’ll have to pass before...

Colts fans…step away from the ledge. Or the bridge. Or the window. Or whatever it is you’re prepared to pummel to your death from. And remember one thing: it’s preseason. And it doesn’t matter. And you may just hurt yourself really, really badly. That’s three things. Sorry.

The Indianapolis Colts did not look the greatest in their preseason loss to the Buffalo Bills, but it was just the first preseason game and a number of starters did not play. That does not mean that there were not some highlights though--like this 45 yard touchdown pass from new back-up quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to second-year wide receiver T.Y. Hilton.
The Colts have activated running back Ahmad Bradshaw from the active/PUP list.Fantasy Spin:It looks like Bradshaw has finally recovered from offseason foot surgery. That's bad news for Vick Ballard, who drops to No. 2 on the Colts' running back depth chart. If Bradshaw stays healthy, he should have a chance for his second straight 1,000-yard season.
After today’s preseason loss to the Bills, Colts head coach Chuck Pagano told the media that he expects tight end Dwayne Allen (foot) to be ready in time their season opener.
