The Rap Sheet:
Last night, the father of ex-Patriots CB Shawn Springs passed away. At the age of 54, Ron Springs, the former Cowboys RB, died following four years in a coma.
You can read more about Ron Springs in this Dallas Morning News article.
For Shawn Springs, he always spoke emotionally about his dad, including in this fabulous article by Herald columnist Ron Borges from 2009. It was a source of inspiration for him, and I’m sure it still will be. Condolences go out to Shawn. Always a great guy.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones issued a statement to the DMN about Ron Springs:
“Ron’s life will always be remembered by the joy and laughter that he brought to others and the courage and toughness he displayed until the end. Regardless of the circumstances, he always had a smile for everyone. The Dallas Cowboys have lost a wonderful member of our family, and we share our thoughts and prayers with his family.“
