Found September 28, 2012 on The Majors Detroit:
Lions head coach Jim Schwartz announced Thursday that defensive tackle Corey Williams had knee surgery earlier this week and will be out of action this weekend against Minnesota. Tim Twentyman of the team’s website went further saying that Williams is week-to-week as he recovers from a procedure that was done to clean things up and keep him on the field more consistently in the long run. Williams has been a nice anchor for the Lions on that defensive line in which he’s accumulated six tackles and two sacks in the team’s 1-2 start. Detroit is however deep on the line while Nick Fairley and/or Sammie Lee Hil will get the start in Williams’ place alongside Ndamukong Suh. The team did get some good news though as QB Matthew Stafford returned to the practice field for the first time since suffering a hip injury last Sunday. Backup Shaun Hill took first team reps on Wednesday while Stafford’s status for Sunday continues to be up in the air. The general feeling though at this point is Staf...

Stafford looks good for Sunday

He wasn't limping Wednesday and he was back to practice Thursday. All signs point to Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford returning for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field. Stafford came out of Sunday's overtime loss at Tennessee in the final minutes of regulation when he aggravated an ailing right hip. He also missed Wednesday's practice...

Stafford sits out practice, taking injury day-to-day

ALLEN PARK, Mich. Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford didnt practice Wednesday, but he wasnt limping. His status for Sundays game against Minnesota probably wont be officially released until Fridays injury report. Im getting better, Stafford said. I feel better today than I did on Sunday. Taking it day-by-day, just trying to get better. Stafford wouldnt confirm the exact...

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions NFL Week 4 Preview: Will Stafford Bounce Back?

http://aeryssports.com/barry-sanders-memorial-blog/tag/matthew-stafford/ Matthew Stafford and the Lions are coming off a tough loss to the Titans, and it was a game in which could come back to haunt the Lions more than Green Bay’s loss to Seattle. Stafford (hamstring) was not healthy enough to play in the fourth quarter, but he is expected to be better than ever at home against...

Matthew Stafford On Track For Week 4

Stafford left last Sunday's game against Tennessee with an injured hip.Fantasy Spin:The Lions will need a win this week to avoid dropping to 1-3 for the year so expect Stafford to play this weekend and as always, throw often.

Mathew Stafford dealing with a hip injury

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Detroit Lions quarterback Mathew Stafford is dealing with a hip injury and there’s a good chance that he doesn’t practice much this week, but still plays on Sunday. “I would be surprised if he practiced Wednesday or Thursday, but ultimately, when the game rolls around, he’s a tough guy to count out. The injury looks to be more of a hip...

Back to the drawing board for the Detroit Lions

After suffering both an injury to star quarterback Matthew Stafford and a loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, it’s fair to say that the Detroit Lions have been left reeling. Sitting at 1-2, the Lions have to be concerned with the plethora of missed opportunities in their first three games. Now Detroit faces the Minnesota Vikings, a team that is coming off a victory against...

Lions have dealt with unlikely ups and downs

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Jim Schwartz's aggressive tendencies helped turn the Detroit Lions from the laughingstock of the NFL into a playoff team in three years after becoming the team's coach in 2009 following Detroit's infamous 0-16 season. That aggressiveness had been heralded in pulling a team out of a playoff drought that had spanned 12 seasons. The Lions went 10-6...

Detroit Lions: Week 4 NFL Power Rankings (#23)

Last week: 21 (-2) Record: 1-2 Every year a team goes from in the playoffs to winning 5 games or fewer. The Lions, one of my preseason overrated teams, are a finalist for that spot, but I have them finishing a little bit better than that. However, their defense is atrocious just like last year and Matt Stafford, even if he doesn’t get hurt again, is not going to throw for 5000...

Lions' Hill best of the backups

ALLEN PARK, Mich. Its not going to happen in Detroit because Matthew Stafford is clearly established as the face of the franchise. But Shaun Hill is good enough to get a quarterback controversy started in other places. When you see him do things like he did Sunday, leading the Lions to two touchdowns in the final 18 seconds to force overtime, it makes you wonder why Hill isnt...

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions: Week 4 NFL Pick

Minnesota Vikings (2-1) at Detroit Lions (1-2) I’ve been saying it all along that the Lions are overrated. It’s one of the preseason predictions that I’m proud of. They sit at 1-2, coming off a loss to the Titans with only a comeback win by 3 at home against the Rams. Last year, they went 10-6 despite the league’s 23rd ranked defense because their passing offense was so good...

In Detroit Lions’ “Snap Flap,” Jim Schwartz Should Recieve More Blame Than Dominic Raiola

This piece is also featured at Lions101.com Dominic Raiola has been perhaps the most polarizing player on the Detroit Lions for years, but finally, there was one event he’s taking complete blame for that wasn’t his fault entirely. On the … Continue reading →
