Jerricho Cotchery did all he could to keep the Steelers afloat amid a tidal wave of points by the New England Patriots in the final 20 minutes of a 55-31 defeat Sunday. The veteran receiver had his best game since joining the Steelers in 2011. His season-high seven catches resulted in three touchdowns and 96 receiving yards. However, it was a bittersweet performance for the ultimate team player. Cotchery resisted responding to questions about his performance. Instead, he focused primarily on how the struggling Steelers can turn their seemingly lost season around. “It's always been a team sport,” Cotchery said. “If you're locked in on individual success, it affects the team in a negative way. “We have a ton of errors to correct. We can't pat someone on their back for having a good game. We've got to think about getting better.” At 2-6, the Steelers are staring down their first losing season since a 6-10 finish in 2003 — a year in which Bill Cowher's team also...

Jerricho Cotchery Continues To Be Steelers’ Rock

By Matthew Marczi With such little positivity following a humiliating defeat, wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery did help provide just a sliver of sunshine for sullen Pittsburgh Steelers fans, as he continued to expand upon his excellent third season in the organization. As expected this offseason, Cotchery has taken on a far more prominent role after inheriting the primary slot position...

Steelers Report Card Follwing Another Loss

The Pittsburgh Steelers got badly demolished by the Patriots 55-31 yesterday in Gillete Stadium. The Steelers have fallen to 2-6 on the year, their worst start in almost a decade. They didn't play well at all yesterday, and that's obviously going to be reflected in the report card.Offense Surprisingly, the Steelers offense wasn't too bad yesterday. They barely punted...

Get to Know Our Pittsburgh Steelers Safety

I'm taking a deeper look at some of the "less famous," Steelers so we can all know our team better: Thomas is from Virginia Beach, VA. He attended Ocean Lakes High School. In 2008 Shamarko Thomas was 1st team All-State All-Region, and All-Tidewater, and was a Two-Time First Team All District selection. He set high school records for interceptions...

Will the Steelers ever get to use 2012 draft pick Sean Spence?

Sean Spence the former 2012 third-round pick started practicing a few weeks ago after being placed on the physically unable to perform list at the start of camp as a result of the serious knee injury he suffered in the 2012 preseason. The Steelers had to make a choice about putting him on the active roster this […]

Tomlin stands behind Dick LeBeau

Here are some takes from Mike Tomlin's weekly news conference: The Steelers gave up the most points and yards in a game in franchise history last Sunday at New England. That didn't stop Tomlin from giving a vote of confidence to safeties Troy Polamalu and Ryan Clark. Same with Dick LeBeau. Asked why he still has faith in his long-term defensive coordinator, Tomlin said,...

Antonio Brown says coach Tomlin was right to bench him

Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, who leads the National Football League in receptions, said today Coach Mike Tomlin made the right decision benching him for the final series Sunday against the New England Patriots. Brown said he was benched because a miscommunication between him and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger resulted in an interception that led to the Patriots final touchdown...

More Threats from Tomlin After Latest Debacle

Coach Mike Tomlin, in his post-game press conference after the latest debacle, was echoing some of the stuff he's said before when the Steelers lost--that he will be taking guys off the field if they don't buy into winning. Ed Bouchette, reporting after the conference, asks the pertinent question on every Steeler fan's mind--isn't it too late for these kinds...

Breaking Down The Breakdown By Polamalu On The Patriots First Touchdown

On the New England Patriots first touchdown of the game Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, safety Troy Polamalu was worked over pretty good by quarterback Tom Brady and below is a breakdown of the breakdown. On the first down play, the Patriots are in 11 personnel with two wide receivers to the left and one to the right. The Steelers have their nickel personnel on the field...

Season 4, Episode 42 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I begin by talking about a few of the things that Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had to say Tuesday during his press conference. Why You Shouldn't Get Too Excited About Our Win vs Pittsburgh

For the first time since the Tampa Bay game in Week 2, I watched the Patriots play a game where I had almost no doubt in my mind that, barring a miracle, we would win the game. When Pittsburgh reeled off 14 straight points in the third quarter I was a bit on edge, but Tom Brady and the offense took care of that in a hurry. HOWEVER, let's not jump on the idea that the ship has...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Not All Is Lost

Wow, do people tend to overreact to a poor performance…or six.  Yes it’s true that the Pittsburgh Steelers are 2-6 on the season and yes they just allowed Tom Brady and his young inexperienced offensive weapons to hang 55 points and over 600 yards on them, both franchise records.  What’s not true is that this team and the defense in particular are old, slow, washed up, and...

Winners and Losers: Steelers Week 9 Edition

Winners: Ben Roethlisberger You can make a case that Ben should be on the losers list, but you have to believe he was a huge reason why the Steelers were in the game, at one point. Roethlisberger made a couple of very good touchdown passes. He finished the game with four tossing scores. Ben also finished the game with 400 passing yards. Big Ben also turned the football over three...
