Could Former Redskins RB Clinton Portis End Up With Eagles?

Earlier this week, the Washington Redskins cut running back Clinton Portis–mainly because it would be difficult to pay the injury-plagued back the $8.3 million next season. Now, it appears one writer believes Portis would make a good fit for another team in the NFC East–the Philadelphia Eagles. ESPN’s Bill Barnwell believes Portis would make a good part-time back in Philadelphia playing behind LeSean McCoy–who emerged as one of the most dangerous running backs in the NFL last season after finishing with 1,672 yards from the line of scrimmage to go along with nine touchdowns. At 29, Portis is still capable of being an effective running back–it’s just the health factor that’s slowed him down over the last few seasons. Portis has been limited to just 13 games over the last two seasons–rushing for just 721 yards with three touchdowns.
