Parents usually wish they could know the exact time their children will be born so they could prepare. As we all know, that isn’t usually how it works out. Cowboys CB Brandon Carr is no different. ESPN is reporting that the birth of Carr’s first son, Austin, was witnessed by Carr himself in a rather unconventional way. After the Hall of Fame game in Canton on Sunday, Carr flew to Los Angeles, since the team was expected to play in Friday night’s game against the Raiders. When he arrived, Brandon soon learned that his wife had gone into labor. Of course he hopped back on a plane to Dallas. Unfortunately for Carr, he was not going to make it to the hospital on time, but modern day technology came to the rescue. Carr was able to open his phone, and with the help of Facetime, Brandon didn’t miss Austin’s arrival into the world. Carr commented on the situation saying: “I saw everything I needed to see. I saw it all. Technology is wonderful these days. Sometimes you can’t control what’s going to happen. You’ve just got to go with the flow. I made the most of it.” Carr will be with the team tonight playing against the Raiders, and also had this to say: “No sleep at all, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. It was a good feeling to be there and actually see your first son. I’m still trying to gather my thoughts and bring it all in. The last two days have been good. It’s a blessed feeling.” It’s very fitting that Carr and his wife would honor the state of Texas by naming their son Austin. They may have also considered Steve, since the Apple founder paved the way for technology like Facetime.
