In past years there has been a consensus pick or even strong rumors of who we may draft – not this year. This year, has been very hush-hush as we enter the final stretch towards Thursday. I’ve pinged several of my reliable sources as I have in past years, and the well has been dry for the most part; however, I do have one interesting scenario one source told me this afternoon.
The Cowboys know the offense needs helps with the offensive line, but there’s a growing faction within the organization that has some real fears about our running game and don’t be surprised if the Cowboys draft a running back with the 18th pick, via a possible trade down if their first round offensive linemen are gone. The target I’m told could be Eddie Lacy, Alabama. The Cowboys have scouted Alabama players vigorously and attended several of the player workouts.
I’m told the Cowboys pe...

It’s no secret that the Dallas Cowboys have fallen out of love with Doug Free. He was once the golden boy back in 2011 playing at left tackle, but as soon as Tyron Smith was moved to the left side in 2012. Free quickly regressed to the point that the Cowboys are looking to do whatever it takes to get him off the team fast. Cutting Free would save the Cowboys zero dollars to the...
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Demarcus Ware did not back pedal on a comment that he made directly after Tony Romo was awarded with a $108 million contract extension.
Ware just expanded upon it.

If "good shape" means scary thin, we'll let Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Joens pass one this one. Plus, it's draft time, so you know Jerry going to put his poker face on, reports Tom Osborn of mysanantonio.com.
As draft day approaches, Jones wants to downplay the state of the team's defense, saying "the good news is we really are in good shape over on the...
NFL fans probably could care less about Tyrann Mathieu, "The Honey Badger" who has had one huge downhill road. I see this as a comeback story to remember. Fans will miss out on an exciting player. Mathieu has a on going dispute regarding his failed marijuana tests. As a fan, I hate stories about potentially great football players who have additions. The question is, ...
Jerry Jones says the Cowboys are more likely to trade down than attempt to trade up on draft day.
Which means you can look for them to move up.
Every year, Jones calls a pre-draft press conference. The media dutifully shows up, just in case he addresses other topics besides the draft. As far as the draft itself, anything Jones and the Cowboys says prior to draft day is usually...
The Dallas Cowboys went 30 years without drafting an offensive lineman in the first round. They might do it for the second time in three drafts Thursday night.
Blockers are among the needs after Dallas signed two free-agent guards last year and still finished second-to-last in rushing in the NFL.
If the Cowboys take a guard in the first round, it will be just the second time in...
IRVING, Texas Experts have been saying for a while that this year's NFL Draft isn't loaded with as many elite prospects as there have been in prior years. The strength of this class is in its depth.
For the Dallas Cowboys, drafting at No. 18 isn't a bad place to be. There should be a quality starter available, and if they're on the clock and not in love with any...
The Dallas Cowboys traded up in last year’s NFL Draft in
order to acquire cornerback Morris Claiborne. This year, the team isn’t
interested in moving up in the draft, as owner/general manager Jerry Jones told
reporters – including Jon Machota of The Dallas News – that trading down is a “realistic

The 1978 Dallas Cowboys featured several running backs that many (with memories of the 1970s) would remember. This list includes not only Tony Dorsett and Robert Newhouse, but also Scott Laidlaw, Preston Pearson, and Doug Dennison.
The team did not have great candidates for the Most Obscure Player Award, so we’re going with one of the lesser-known running backs.
Option #1 was Alois...

These profiles are put together with the specific needs of the Cowboys in mind, and is an attempt to examine their resumes and game tape to get an idea of who might fit in best with Dallas come draft day. Surely, circumstances will dictate what actually happens on that day, but we...
