Multiple reports revealed Thursday that the Dallas Cowboys had preliminary discussions with agent Drew Rosenhaus regarding his client, free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress. However, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones denied those reports. "It has not been discussed at any level in our organization," Jones told reporters Thursday in Oxnard, Calif. "We have not thought about him." But Jones' son, Stephen, the team's executive vice president, didn't completely slam the door on the idea. "Plaxico has some really great highlights in his career," Stephen Jones said, according to The Dallas Morning News. "With a guy like him it would mean you move Miles Austin into the slot when you go with three. I wouldn't totally rule out Plaxico at some point if hes still there when we work through our evaluation process with the guys here." To throw another opinion in the mix, a source with knowledge of the situation told ProFootballTalk on Friday that the Cowboys have Burress "high on their list" in the event of an injury. Stephen Jones said Friday morning during a local Dallas radio interview that none of the receivers battling for the No. 3 spot have separated themselves during training camp. It needs to be mentioned that Miles Austin, who missed six games last season with hamstring injuries, is battling a tweaked hamstring and Dez Bryant's off the field issues and injury history dont necessarily leave the top two receiver spots without question marks.
