By all indications, Pro Bowl nose tackle Jay Ratliff should play in his first game of the season for the Cowboys on Sunday at Baltimore. Ratliff practiced Monday morning at Valley Ranch.
With the Cowboys facing the Ravens talented offensive line, Ratliffs return comes just in time. Sean Lissemore and Josh Brent filled in admirably for Ratliff while he missed the first four games with a left high ankle sprain, but Ratliff is a game-changer on defense.
Obviously, Jay is one of the top defensive guys in this league, Cowboys defensive end Marcus Spears said. You miss a guy like that. Josh and Liss did a great job for us. They played great football and those guys stepped in and really did what they had to do to help us win.
Getting Jay back is like getting three guys back, in the nickel packages and the base packages and then teams actually game plan for Jay Ratliff. Hell give other guys opportunities to make more plays and have more success because hes in the game.
