Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Jay Ratliff was charged with driving while impaired early Tuesday after his pickup truck crashed into a 18-wheeler. Grapevine, Texas, police officer Sam Shemwell said Ratliff, who was alone in his vehicle, and the tractor-trailer driver were not injured. Ratliff was arrested at the scene when officers suspected he was intoxicated after refusing to give a breath sample. He was released from jail Tuesday morning on bond. He also could face a suspension or fine from the NFL. The Cowboys and Ratliff, who was limited to six games in 2012 by injuries, declined comment, according to ESPN.com. The incident comes on the heels of the Dec. 8 crash when Cowboys practice-squad player Jerry Brown was killed in a vehicle driven by teammate Josh Brent. The backup nose tackle was charged with intoxication manslaughter after tests showed his blood-alcohol content to be more than twice the legal limit. Brent faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
