The Dallas Cowboys have struggled in the running game this season and team owner Jerry Jones says the team is ready to start Brian Waters at right guard in Week 3. “We thought Waters played good for the number of spans he (had),” Jones said on his radio show aired on Dallas’ KRLD-FM. “So Waters will be in there. That’ll improve us.” “We are implementing more tight ends in our offense,” Jones said. “That ought to give us better blocking than we’ve had in the past. (Second-year tight end James) Hanna played an outstanding game. He’s going to be more of a factor for us. When I look at everything, I see improvement in the future in our running game.” Coach Jason Garrett also believes Waters will help spark the running game. “The more he plays, the better he’ll get,” Garrett said Monday. “But he did a nice job starting out in the game (Sunday).” The Cowboys are 31st in the league in rushing. Waters, a six-time Pro Bowler, did not play last season due to personal reasons and in his first appearance with the Cowboys played 18 snaps. Dallas will play against the St. Louis Rams who have allowed just 61 yards per game over the first two weeks of the season compared to 330 though the air.

Cowboys and Chiefs: Where Did The Turnovers Go?

The roar at Arrowhead Stadium was deafening as the Cowboys slowly trudged off the field.  Andy Reid joyfully pumped his fist in the air as he beat the Cowboys for the 18th time in his illustrious NFL coaching career. Once again the inability to perform when it most mattered escaped Cowboys. What happened? Many analysts point to the last drive when Tony Romo had three horrible...

Dez Dazzles But Dallas Falls to the Kansas City Chiefs

The Dallas Cowboys entered their Week 2 match up with the Kansas City Chiefs with high expectations. Just look at the story lines: Miles Austin was returning to the field where his career had taken off; Brandon Carr and Brian Waters were returning home to play against their first NFL team, and perhaps most importantly, Dallas was seeking its first 2-0 start since the 2008 season...

Garrett wants Cowboys more committed to running

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett wants his teams' commitment to running the ball more to start showing up in games. Two games into the season, the Cowboys have thrown 91 passes and just 39 runs. The ratio was especially broad in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Chiefs when Dallas attempted 42 passes for just 16 rushes. Starting running back DeMarco Murray got just 12 carries on Sunday...

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is not practicing today. Bryant, who injured his back Sunday in Kansas City, was at practice on Wednesday but not in pads. During his Wednesday morning press conference, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was asked about Bryant's back and if he anticipated the 24-year-old practicing. "I think it's sore and we...

Jim Thomas of the St Louis Dispatch reports that the Rams have signed former Steelers OT Max Starks to a one-year deal. The Rams brought in a few veteran offensive tackles for workouts this week including Starks, Demetress Bell and R.J. Dill. This comes just days after the Rams learned that RT Rodger Saffold will likely miss a few weeks after he suffered an MCL injury last weekend...

New Game Plan for the Cowboys Already Gone?

The Dallas Cowboys looked like a whole different team from the one we saw take down the New York Giants in week one, falling to the Kansas City Chiefs 17-16 in the home opener.  It was also the home debut for new head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Alex Smith. The Chiefs got out to an early 7-0 lead with Smith, who had a game-high 57 rushing yards, running and passing the...

Dez Bryant Retweets Draya’s Vagina Photo and Cowboys Fans Aren’t Pleased

It came as a surprise to no one that Dez Bryant didn’t do any of his classwork at Oklahoma State, because he isn’t the brightest guy around.  With that being said I am going to cut him a little slack here. While on Twitter last night this exchange took place between Bryant and Basketball Wives Draya courtesy of The Big Lead. Now, I am not going to post the Vagina in question...

Jason Garrett says Cowboys must run the ball more: 'we have to be able to run it throughout the game'

Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett feels the offense has to get the running game in gear for the entire system to click. Furthermore, he says it's the commitment to the run game by the coaches that will make it happen.

Dallas Cowboys: Is the new Tony Romo offense really an improvement?

Two weeks in the books for your Dallas Cowboys and the record now stands at 1-1. The pessimist in me says that is where a team led by the perpetually .500 Jason Garrett and Tony Romo ought to be. The optimist says it is only week two and the Cowboys are in a two-way tie for first place in the woeful NFC East. The realist in me put yesterday’s Cowboys in the court of personal opinion...

Report: St. Louis Rams OT Rodger Saffold likely to miss game against Dallas

St. Louis Rams offensive tackled Rodger Saffold has been injury prone thoughout his entire NFL career and the injury bug showed up once again in Week 2 when Saffold left the game with a leg injury. Now, according to a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com via Twitter, Saffold has a sprained MCL and is almost certainly not going to play in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys. #Rams RT...

Negatives outweighed positives in Rams' loss to Atlanta

ST. LOUIS -- Should you be more encouraged or discouraged by the Rams' 31-24 loss at Atlanta on Sunday afternoon? Going on the road to face an NFC finalist that was coming off a season-opening loss, a double-digit defeat would not have been surprising. That the Rams rallied to make the fourth quarter worth watching says a lot about their resolve. On the other hand, as much...

Fisher: Officiating errors costly in Week 2

Jeff Fisher says officiating mistakes were the biggest reason the St. Louis Rams fell short in their bid for their second comeback victory in as many games. The Rams (1-1) had seven penalties for 53 yards in a 31-24 loss at Atlanta on Sunday. After reviewing tape Monday, their coach said he wasn't concerned about the penalties because only two made by referee Scott Green'...

Decoding Callahan: Familiar Issues Lead To Defeat

The offensive examination this week gives me a chance to argue with the wind about the role of running in the NFL in 2013. You see, in the modern age, there are few things that get debated by those that enjoy the advanced metrics that Football Outsiders and similar numbers sources like the role of the run game and runpass ratios. Do you run to win or do you run when you win? They...
