The Seahawks began Tuesday with a special-teams meeting. One of the adjustments the Seahawks must make will be to the wedge on their kickoff return, something that defensive lineman Craig Terrill has been a part of in the past. The NFL passed a rules change this offseason, prohibiting the use of wedge out of concern for player safety. The Seahawks have used the wedge under special teams coach Bruce DeHaven, who put an emphasis upon putting large linemen in that group. As it has been explained to me, special teams coaches have been told that the prohibition on the wedge involves the start and that you can't have more than two players cluster together and start up together. The enforcement against the wedge doesn't include players joining up after the blockers begin moving forward.
