When we published our knee-jerk rookie rankings immediately following the 2012 NFL Draft, Justin Blackmon was not our No. 1 wide receiver (in fact, Bryan had him sixth among rookie wide receivers).

He’s still not, and he won’t be trending in the right direction either.

Blackmon was busted for an aggravated DUI last weekend after blowing a 0.24 into a breathalyzer. That’s three times the legal limit. Think 10 beers in an hour drunk.

This story comes almost a week after the fact now because fantasy football isn’t the first concern when a story like this hits. Obviously, there are bigger problems for Blackmon. But for fantasy owners considering drafts already this summer, what do you do with this information coupled with the fact that Blackmon had a lackluster start to OTAs?

My advice: Let Blackmon be someone else’s problem.

The Pros

1. Jaguars traded up to make him the first receiver taken in the 2012 NFL Draft. That says something about his level of talent and the ceiling expected of him at the NFL level.

2. YAC monster. See Fiesta Bowl highlights versus Stanford:

The Cons

1. Obviously, the drinking and driving. Blackmon had a similar mishap during his college days at Oklahoma State that was mostly swept under the rug. That won’t happen in the NFL, and it could be the ruin of him.

2. He plays in Jacksonville. Blaine Gabbert doesn’t inspire any confidence in fantasy circles but is the quarterback of at least the near future. Chad Henne winning the starting job from Gabbert in training camp would be a step in the right direction, but just a baby step.
