The big question in the Patriots backfield is whether Danny Woodhead will return or go for greener pastures in free agency. It seems the Patriots are well equipped to let Woodhead test the free agency waters with a stable of young backs that have come into their own.
However, intangibles are what separate solid players from good ones, and Woodhead has that along with a huge heart. He’s been as reliable as any Patriot, his versatility is a perfect match for the Patriots offense, and it would be hard to see Woodhead playing in another uniform.
“Really, I haven’t really thought about it,” Woodhead said yesterday. “It’s only a week and a half out about, and I still just haven’t thought about it. It will play out later on. It’s a month away, so it’s not something I’ve really thought about and probably won’t think about for a little while,” via Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.
“I feel like the coaching staff is obviously one of the best, if not the best, in the league,” he said. “Playing for coach Belichick is obviously awesome. He’s unbelievable. I’ve got a lot of great friends. The last three years have been fun. I’ve really enjoyed playing. I really enjoy being a Patriot.”
