FOXBORO, Mass. — Tom Brady celebrated his 36th birthday recently, but, even at his old(er) age, he’s still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. If you don’t believe it, Just ask the league’s best cornerback. “Oh yeah,” Darrelle Revis said excitedly on Tuesday when asked if Brady was still one of the NFL’s best. “It’s between him and Peyton Manning but it’s a good race between both of them. They’re both great, I played against both of them. They’re awesome quarterbacks. They’re tough to go against and to gameplan against as well.” Revis is in Foxboro with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a set of joint practice with the Patriots this week ahead of their game on Friday. The three-time All Pro corner participated in positional drills during practice on Tuesday but remained on the sideline during any team activities. He’s still working his way back to full health after suffering a season-ending ACL injury last season, but Revis still wishes he could be on the field defending against Brady. “It’s kind of weird, you know watching one-on-ones and seeing Tom throw at our DBs,” Revis said. “So, it’s just something that I’m taking in stride, wishing I could be out here to practice. Maybe that could give me some tips. Just to be out here in one-on-ones and and go against Tom, because it’s great competition at the end of the day.” Brady lit up the Buccaneers secondary for the most part on Tuesday, completing 24 of 30 passes durin one-on-one drills and 13 of 21 passes during the 11-on-11 team scrimmage. Those numbers would likely look at least somewhat different if Revis were participating, but he’ll just have to wait until Week 3 of the regular season to try his hand against Brady instead.
