Here’s another installment of speculative trade ideas for Jets CB Darrelle Revis. ESPN’s Adam Schefter joined SPN Radio Tuesday morning and tossed out a speculative trade idea that would involve the Jets sending Revis to the San Francisco 49ers in return for QB Alex Smith and a second round pick, per Jane McManus. There’s no question that the Jets could use quarterback and Revis represents their best trade asset, so it’s at least a plausible idea. The 49ers aren’t in desperate need of a cornerback, but turning Smith and a second-round pick into Revis could be enough to persuade them to at least consider the idea. Revis will be a free agent following the season, but even if they were to allow him to leave following during free agency; they would still recoup a third-round compensatory pick for him. That means, unlike other teams that would most likely have to include a first-round pick and have the parameters of a long-term deal in place as part of a trade for Revis, San Francisco could instead view this as a one-year rental.  Revis is reportedly seeking a deal that would pay him $16 million annually and would include $50 million in guarantees, so it’s safe to say that his contract expectations will have an impact on his overall trade value.
