Darren McFadden was drafted by the Oakland Raiders with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. The team signed McFadden to a six-year, $60.1 million contract which included $26 million in guarantees. McFadden has shown flashes of the spectacular running back he was in college, but injuries have been his biggest obstacle. He’s never completed an entire 16 game schedule and in his 5 seasons in the NFL, he only eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark only once (2010). There is no denying his talent and now that new offensive coordinator Greg Olsen has installed a power blocking offense in place of the zone blocking scheme from 2012 that didn’t fit him, McFadden has the opportunity to reach his huge potential. “You’ve seen a lot of glimpses, though, but I can promise you that you haven’t seen the best of me at all,” McFadden said, via Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times. “I feel like everybody’s up to speed,” McFadden said. “I feel like I’m up to speed with everybody. I know the blocks that they’re going to make and where the holes should be.” “I feel like there was times last year, guys would like to talk a lot,” McFadden said. “It might have been at the wrong time when I was cracking jokes. I’m just being more of a vocal leader and leading for the younger guys.”
