At age 35, David Patten thought he was likely done playing football. But after a year off to heal injuries, and watching what teams were using for receivers, he figured he still had some use in the NFL, but more specifically, with the Patriots.
After all, he new their system, new their quarterback, and had won three Super Bowls there. Why not give them a call, and at least give it a shot?
He was given a tryout, and the rest is history.
”It’s exciting to be back. It’s like coming back home,” Branch said earlier today, while addressing reporters outside at Gillette Stadium. ”Hopefully, it can translate to the field. ”
Naturally, Branch is looking forward to getting back on the receiving end of some Tom Brady passes, and seeing if they can re-connect. (more…)
