In 2002, Deion Branch was a wide eye rookie coming into the NFL, and the Patriots weren’t the dominant team as they are now.
Branch grew with those teams until he was traded in 2006, but upon his return in 2010, he realized what he had missed.
He’s now an elder spokes man, ever the ambassador, Branch knows time is winding down in his career, and that is what makes it special this time of year.
Last year the Patriots came within minutes of winning their fourth Super Bowl, but he knows every year is different. This 2012 team will have to make their own mark starting Sunday.
“We want to make this team, the 2012 Patriots team, a special team,” Branch said, via Tom Curran of CSNNewEngland.com. “Each year is going to be something different. We’re a lot better than we were last year. We don’t have the same players. That team, the 2011 team, was totally different from this year.”
"I think that’s the most important thing that you just said, going into my (12th) year and I’m still having a lot of fun," said Branch. "I love playing the game. I enjoy being in the locker room, being around my teammates and I think this is what it’s all about. We spend so much time together as players. This is where we want to be, this is the position we want to be in and hopefully we can better ourselves as the postseason goes on.”
