Coach Dennis Allen isn't about to rush into forming an opinion on his quarterback competition.
He's named Matt Flynn the starter, but there is enough wiggle room for Terrelle Pryor or Tyler Wilson to pass him for the starters role.
The team is hoping that ideally Flynn makes it easy on them and takes a firm grasp of the staring job, taking the pressure off having to throw their two young QB's into the fire.
Both Pryor and Wilson are thought to be a year away, so if the Raiders can ride Flynn for 2013, it will keep them heading in the right direction.
However, Allen is keeping an open mind and he knows it's too soon to draw conclusions from spring football in shorts.
"We haven’t really even had a full practice," Allen said, via Bill Williamson of ESPN.
"We have three-plus months 'til the season starts. All the guys have a lot to work to do. But we have time. I don’t have to make any decisions until we have a game; that’s a ways off.
Overall, I like where we are as a group and I really have no worries about the quarterback position."
