Von Miller could be the first defensive player off the board in April
The Denver Broncos have had a busy couple of days, as has every NFL front office and coaching staff. The Broncos, however, made a very interesting trip on Thursday, one that could raise some eyebrows and give some hints about the Broncos’ draft preference.
The Broncos on Thursday held a private workout for top linebacker Von Miller in College Station, TX, and have also been to both Alabama’s and Auburn’s pro days over the last two days. With the defensive side of the ball undoubtedly the area of focus, it’s no question the Broncos are looking at Nick Fairley and Marcell Dareus from those two workouts. So what are the Broncos looking to do in this year’s draft? By all accounts, Miller, Dareus, and Fairley are all prospects who could go 5th overall or later.
Dareus is probably the best overall prospect in that group, but it has been rumored before that the Broncos would be interested in trading down, and they might be looking to do so this year as well. If some team falls in love with Blaine Gabbert or Cam Newton, assuming one of the two goes first overall, the Broncos could be in great shape to do so.
